A New Day in American Politics
History was made this past November when Senator Barack Obama was elected by both popular and electoral college votes as the forty-fourth president of the United States. Running off of the campaign rallying cry, "Yes We Can!", Senator - now President - Obama instilled a sense of hope across the nation, promising a new way of running government.
Now another sign that this is going to come to pass has turned up.
President Obama left Robert Gates in at the post of Secretary of Defense from the Bush cabinet, and now he is considering another Republican, New Hampshire Senator Judd Gregg, as the Secretary of Commerce.
I must admit I was at first skeptical of all of the promises that President Obama was making as he campaigned across this country, but it seems that, as of so far, he is really going to strive to bring about a change in America. I pray that he continues to stay focused on the issues and resolving them for the good of the American people instead of letting politics get in the way.
